Power to be restored within 2 hours in rural areas, 1 hour in urban areas after transformer failure, assures Anil Vij

Chandigarh, November 7, 2024: – Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij, while reviewing the performance of the Energy Department, instructed officials to ensure that in the event of a transformer failure, the power supply should be restored within 2 hours in rural areas and 1 hour in urban areas.

He also emphasized the importance of providing safety kits to employees working on power lines to ensure their protection during repairs and maintenance work.

Vij was holding a review meeting with the officials of the Energy Department in Chandigarh today to discuss various operational aspects and enhance service efficiency.

Various technical steps should be taken with priority to reduce line losses

The Energy Minister directed officials to take stringent measures to curb power theft and ensure that strict action is taken against any consumer caught stealing power.

Additionally, he emphasized the need to implement various technical measures on a priority basis to reduce power line losses, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the power distribution system.

Strict action will be taken against the concerned electricity workers if they ask for an electricity wire from the consumer to get a new electricity connection.

He also directed that meter testing labs in the state should be NABL-accredited to ensure accurate and reliable testing standards.

He further stated that strict action would be taken against any electricity workers found soliciting electricity wire from consumers when issuing new connections.

Mr. Vij also emphasized the need to increase the capacity of sub-stations across the state that are operating under high load. Additionally, he instructed officials to assess the load on existing transformers and ensure that those with excessive load are upgraded accordingly. Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the need to prepare a scheme to provide government housing to the department’s employees.

People should be made aware to take forward the PM Surya Ghar Yojana – Vij

Mr. Vij stated that Haryana has been assigned a target of providing 1 lakh connections under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana by the Government of India.

Over 7,000 connections have already been provided under the state scheme. To further increase this number, awareness campaigns will be conducted through various channels. He also directed that this target be completed by 31 March 2025.

Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department Apoorv Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Haryana Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited Mohd Shayin, Managing Director of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, Managing Director of DHBVN Mr. PC Meena, Managing Director of UHBVN Mr. Saket Kumar and other officers of the department were present in the meeting.
