Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana to Conduct Mohali Bar Association Elections Under Supervision of Chetan Verma

THE  AMAN SANDESH TIMES

Chandigarh: Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has entrusted Shri Chetan Verma, Vice Chairman of the Bar Council, with the responsibility of overseeing the elections of the Mohali Bar Association. The elections, which had been pending for nearly 11 months, are scheduled to take place on November 8, 2024.

This development comes after the Hon’ble High Court of Punjab and Haryana ordered the cessation of the District Bar Association Mohali’s functioning, with its office bearers’ powers being suspended. The responsibility for the Bar Association was then handed over to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) by the Deputy Commissioner.

Today, Chetan Verma conducted a meeting with the Returning Officer (RO) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) to review the preparations for the elections. He assured that everything is in place for the smooth conduct of the election process. “We are fully prepared for the elections,” Verma stated, signaling a significant step toward restoring the proper functioning of the Bar Association in Mohali.
