New Delhi: In a strategic move to revamp its organizational structure, the Congress party has dissolved the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) unit of Himachal Pradesh, including the District Presidents and Block Congress Committees, effective immediately. The decision, approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, aims to address internal factionalism that affected the party’s performance in the Rajya Sabha bypolls earlier this year.
The defeat of Congress’ official candidate in the Rajya Sabha bypolls had highlighted divisions within the party, prompting the leadership to take corrective measures. However, the party later gained momentum by securing victories in several bypolls, which helped stabilize the state government.
The dissolution marks a significant step towards restructuring and strengthening the Congress party’s presence in Himachal Pradesh, ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
