The Punjabi Virsa Cultural Society (Registered) successfully organized its 12th free cancer testing and awareness camp today at the Community Centre, Sector 69, Mohali. The camp aimed to raise public awareness about the rising incidence of cancer in Punjab and highlight the importance of early detection and timely testing.
Over 528 people participated in the camp, undergoing free medical tests under the supervision of expert doctors. Additionally, 239 participants received free eye check-ups. Test reports will be shared with attendees shortly.
Satveer Singh Dhanoa, President of the Punjabi Virsa Cultural Society, stressed the role of awareness and early detection in fighting cancer and said the society seeks to make health check-ups accessible to people from all sections of society.
Local leaders and dignitaries, including MLA Kulwant Singh, Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Senior Deputy Mayor Amreek Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Kuljeet Singh Bedi, and several councillors, lauded the society’s efforts. Experts, including Ashok Kumar Gupta, Director of Diplasst Group, and Jagmohan Singh Kahlo, President of World Cancer Care, emphasized that early diagnosis significantly improves treatment outcomes.
Camp organizer Inderpal Singh Dhanoa thanked the volunteers and medical team for ensuring smooth and efficient arrangements, allowing all participants to get tested without difficulty.
The Punjabi Virsa Cultural Society reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such initiatives in the future, promoting health, education, Punjabi language, and social welfare.
