The 70th Annual Athletic Meet of the Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, commenced today with high enthusiasm, energy, and sporting spirit. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Education and Secretary Sports, Chandigarh Administration, in the presence of the college Principal, Dr. Sapna Nanda, and Dr. Neelam Paul, Associate Professor of Physical Education.
The inaugural ceremony began with the unfurling of the college flag, followed by an impressive March Past by the students, showcasing discipline, coordination, and teamwork. The Chief Guest took the salute and appreciated the participants for their physical fitness, discipline, and synchronization. The athletes’ oath was administered, emphasizing fair play and sportsmanship.
Ms. Prerna Puri lauded the institution’s efforts in organizing the meet and promoting sports activities among students and faculty. She encouraged everyone to maintain physical fitness and embrace the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted that the Annual Athletic Meet plays a significant role in promoting resilience, fitness, and healthy competition among students.Dr. Neelam Paul’s meticulous planning and dedication were instrumental in ensuring the smooth conduct of the first day. Faculty members also contributed significantly, overseeing various events and ensuring discipline, safety, and systematic execution. A large number of students from B.Ed., M.Ed., and PGDGC courses participated enthusiastically in various track and field events, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere on campus.
The event not only highlighted sporting talent but also reinforced teamwork, coordination, and the values of fair competition. The meet is expected to continue over the next days, providing a platform for students to demonstrate their athletic abilities and sportsmanship.
