Modi Targets DMK Over ‘Misgovernance’ Ahead of TN Polls

Narendra Modi Tamil Nadu Rally: Tamil Nadu polls: PM Modi targets DMK over corruption, Katchatheevu; calls 'no fear' remark a badge of honour | India News - The Times of India

Chennai : Ahead of his visit to Tiruchirappalli, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), claiming the party was “rattled” by the rising popularity of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu.
In a post on X, Modi said the people of the state had seen through what he described as the DMK’s “misgovernance and unfulfilled promises” and were increasingly connecting with the NDA’s agenda of development and progress. His visit marks his third consecutive trip to Tamil Nadu as the NDA intensifies campaigning ahead of the Assembly elections expected in mid-April.During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate Central government projects worth about ₹5,650 crore across sectors including petroleum, highways, railways, infrastructure and rural connectivity.
The Union Cabinet has also approved upgrading the Madurai airport into an international airport, seen as part of a broader outreach to the state.
The NDA, which failed to win any seats in Tamil Nadu in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has revived its alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to consolidate anti-DMK votes. As campaigning gathers momentum, political competition in the state is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
