Phase 1 Residents Question Poor Planning of Civic Works

Mohali :

Concerns are mounting among residents of Phase 1 as ongoing civic work involving the laying of new water disposal pipelines from Diplast Chowk to Franco Hotel has sparked frustration and criticism over alleged mismanagement and inconvenience to the public.
Residents have expressed anger over what they describe as poor planning by the authorities, claiming that the road was recently recarpeted, only to be dug up again for pipeline installation. The situation has not only caused disruption to daily life but has also raised serious questions about the efficient use of public funds.
Former Municipal Councillor Ward No. 3, Davinder Walia, who is expected to contest from the same ward again, has strongly raised the issue in the public interest. He questioned the concerned department on why the pipeline work was not executed prior to the recarpeting of the road.
This reflects a complete lack of coordination and planning. Public money is being wasted, and residents are being unnecessarily harassed,” Walia stated, urging the authorities to ensure accountability and better execution of development works.
Residents have also warned that if such negligence continues, it could lead to larger civic issues and potential safety hazards in the area.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for improved coordination between departments and a more citizen-centric approach to urban development in Mohali.
