Garbage Issue to Be Resolved Soon: Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia

The garbage problem in Mohali will soon be resolved with the launch of a new waste processing site, said Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, General Secretary of AAP Punjab and Chairman of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
Dr. Ahluwalia visited the Phase 5 RMC Centre on April 16, 2026, to review the situation following a recent fire incident in the area.
He said the government is taking steps to permanently address the city’s waste management issues. The upcoming facility will process waste scientifically with segregation, recycling, and proper treatment to reduce garbage accumulation and pollution.
He added that the door-to-door garbage collection system is being strengthened and a monitoring mechanism has been put in place to ensure timely waste disposal.
Dr. Ahluwalia also highlighted ongoing bio-remediation of legacy waste sites and the introduction of modern machinery to improve sanitation services under the Punjab government’s clea
city initiative.
He expressed confidence that these measures will soon make Mohali cleaner and free from garbage-related issues.
