Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Census Officer Komal Mittal initiated the self-enumeration process for Census 2026 by filling her details on the official portal, marking the start of the digital census exercise.
The process, which began on April 30, allows citizens to register themselves at se.census.gov.in using OTP-based authentication and geo-location verification. MLA Kulwant Singh and Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla also completed their self-enumeration as part of the awareness drive.
The DC said the facility is simple, user-friendly and secure, and urged residents to actively participate. She clarified that only basic household information will be collected and no financial or bank details will be sought, advising citizens to remain alert against fraud.
The self-enumeration phase will continue till May 14, after which door-to-door verification will be conducted from May 15 to June 13.
Officials appealed to all residents of SAS Nagar to extend full cooperation for the successful completion of the census exercise.
