Hospital Reports Shortage of Anti-Hemophilic Factor VIII

Mohali :

The Haemophilia Patients Welfare Association has raised serious concern over the shortage of Anti-Hemophilic Factor VIII (AHF) at the District Hospital in SAS Nagar, claiming that patients suffering from internal bleeding are being forced to return without treatment due to non-availability of the drug.
In a letter to the Senior Medical Officer, the association said the life-saving medicine has been out of stock for several days, causing distress to patients, including those coming from outside the district.
Senior Medical Officer Dr. Parminderjit Singh clarified that procurement of medicines falls under specific departmental responsibilities and is not solely handled by the SMO office.
Association president Ram Chander has also written to the Punjab Health Minister and local MLA Kulwant Singh, urging immediate intervention to ensure round-the-clock availability of AHF for patients in need.
