Bomb Threat to CM Mann, PCA Stadium Triggers Security Alert

Mohali:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the PCA Cricket Stadium in Mohali have received a bomb threat through an email, putting security agencies on high alert.

The threatening email was reportedly received at around 10:20 amT and was also sent to the Chief Minister’s Office. The sender warned people not to visit the PCA Stadium to watch any cricket match until September 13, claiming that “iPhone and Android bombs” would be used at the venue.
Following the threat, security agencies have launched search operations at various locations. Teams, including bomb disposal squads and other security personnel, have been deployed to check the stadium and review security arrangements at places associated with the Chief Minister.
The threat comes a day after the Punjab Government launched the Sher-e-Punjab Cricket Tournament, organised on the lines of the Indian Premier League (IPL), at the PCA Stadium.
Officials are investigating the email to establish its source and determine the credibility of the threat. Security agencies are continuing checks at the stadium and other sensitive locations as a precautionary measure.
