MC Drive Removes Encroachments 39 Challans Issued

 

Chandigarh : The Enforcement Wing of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out a special anti-encroachment drive in several parts of the city, including Sector 20, Sector 26 Outer Mandi area and Manimajra Sector 13, to curb illegal vending and unauthorized occupation of public spaces.
The drive began in the morning in Sector 20, where the enforcement team took action against vendors operating on municipal land without permission. During the operation, 22 ice-cream rehris (handcarts) were impounded for creating obstruction on public pathways and running without authorization.
Later in the afternoon, the team conducted another drive in the Sector 26 Outer Mandi area. Officials impounded four trucks that were illegally selling coconuts and watermelons on municipal land. In addition, seven fruit-selling rehris were removed from the area for operating without permission and causing inconvenience to pedestrians and traffic movement. Further action was taken in Manimajra, Sector 13, where the enforcement team impounded three food vans and three motorcycles that were found encroaching upon public spaces.
The drive aimed to ensure smooth traffic flow, maintain cleanliness and prevent unauthorized commercial activities on municipal land.
Overall, the enforcement teams impounded a total of 29 rehris, four trucks selling fruits, three food vans and three motorcycles during the drive. In addition to the seizures, the civic body also issued 39 challans to violators under relevant municipal laws.
Officials said such enforcement drives will continue regularly across the city to keep public spaces free from encroachments and to maintain order and cleanliness. Citizens and vendors have also been urged to follow the rules and avoid unauthorized occupation of municipal land.
