Mohali : Devotees of Khatu Shyam have announced the organization of a grand Shree Shyam Mahotsav on March 22 at Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Phase 11. Preparations for the religious event have almost been completed following a meeting of members of Samast Shyam Premi Jagatpura.
The information was shared by the current president of the organization, Monty Garg, along with other members while interacting with the media after the meeting in Mohali. He said that Shyam devotees from Jagatpura have been organizing grand religious programmes dedicated to Baba Khatu Shyam in Mohali for the past eight years and this year’s event will mark the ninth edition of the celebration.
According to the organizers, the Shree Shyam Mahotsav will begin at 6 pm and continue late into the night. Special arrangements have been made for nearly 4,000 devotees who are expected to attend the programme. Security arrangements and volunteer teams have also been put in place to manage the gathering and ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
A highlight of the Mahotsav will be the grand sankirtan programme, where renowned bhajan singers from different parts of the country will perform devotional songs. Bhajan singer Shubham from Kolkata, along with Mathur Rastogi and the Sharma Sisters from Delhi, will present devotional bhajans dedicated to Baba Shyam and entertain the devotees.
The organizers also informed that an Akhand Bhandara (continuous community meal) will be arranged for devotees throughout the event so that everyone attending the Mahotsav can partake in the prasad.
As a prelude to the main programme, a grand Nishan Yatra will be taken out on the same day at around 10 am from Jagatpura to the temple venue. During the procession, Baba Shyam’s idol will be placed on a decorated chariot accompanied by devotional music and large numbers of devotees.
Monty Garg appealed to devotees to participate enthusiastically in the religious celebration and seek the blessings of Baba Shyam.
