
Chandigarh : Under the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26, “Ek Kadam Swachhta Ki Ore” and the campaign “Naari Se Swachhta”, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organised a Capacity Building Workshop along with a Medical Health Check-up Camp for women Safaimitras at the Municipal Corporation Building. The initiative aimed at strengthening the role of women in sanitation, health awareness, and community participation in cleanliness drives.
The programme was graced by city Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi as the Chief Guest, while Councillor Smt. Prem Lata was also present on the occasion. Sh. Pardeep Kumar, IAS, Special Commissioner, MC Chandigarh, attended the workshop as the Guest of Honour. The health check-up camp was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Jivan Jyoti and witnessed the presence of Dr. Himanshu Gupta, Joint Commissioner, and Dr. Inderdeep Kaur, Medical Officer of Health along with the medical team.
A total of 118 women Safaimitras registered and participated in the health screening camp, where they underwent essential medical examinations including Blood Pressure (BP) tests, Blood Sugar tests, and Height and Weight measurements.
The workshop focused on building the capacity of women to act as ambassadors of cleanliness and hygiene within their communities. Participants were sensitised about the importance of waste segregation, sanitation practices, and healthy living, reinforcing the vision of community-led cleanliness under the “Naari Se Swachhta” campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi highlighted that women are powerful agents of change and play a pivotal role in spreading awareness about cleanliness and sustainable practices at the grassroots level.
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community engagement, improving public health, and promoting sustainable sanitation practices through various initiatives under Swachh Survekshan 2025–26, ensuring that the spirit of “Ek Kadam Swachhta Ki Ore” reaches every household in the city.
