Punjab on Alert as Covid Cases Surge; Mann Govt Issues Mask Advisory

THE AMAN SANDESH TIMES

Chandigarh :

Amid a nationwide uptick in Covid-19 infections, the Punjab government has issued a fresh public health advisory to ensure the state remains prepared and protected. While officials confirmed that the situation in Punjab is currently under control, they emphasized the need for continued vigilance to prevent any potential surge.

The advisory, released by the Punjab Health Department, outlines precautionary measures the public should follow to stay safe. With the virus once again making its presence felt across several states—claiming lives in some instances—the Mann government has proactively stepped up its response.

Key Guidelines Issued:

  • Mandatory Masks: Elderly individuals, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, and those with weakened immunity are advised to wear masks in crowded or enclosed spaces.

  • Healthcare Workers: All health personnel must adhere strictly to COVID-appropriate behaviour, including consistent mask usage.

  • Respiratory Etiquette: People are urged to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue, handkerchief, or the bend of their elbow while coughing or sneezing.

  • Symptom Alert: Those experiencing fever, cough, or difficulty in breathing should wear a mask and consult a doctor immediately.

What to Avoid:

  • Avoid crowded or poorly ventilated spaces, especially if you are at higher risk.

  • Refrain from touching your face without washing your hands.

  • Do not spit in public areas.

  • Avoid self-medication if experiencing respiratory symptoms.

The advisory reiterates that while the Punjab health system is well-equipped and prepared, public cooperation and adherence to safety protocols remain crucial in ensuring that the virus does not regain a stronghold in the state.
