HP Congress Marks 3 Years in Power, Sukhu Slams BJP

Mandi :

The Himachal Pradesh Congress government today celebrated the completion of its three-year term with a massive rally at Paddal ground in Mandi, attended by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, senior party leaders, and thousands of supporters. The event served both as a celebration and a political statement ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Addressing the gathering, CM Sukhu highlighted his government’s people-first approach, citing initiatives for 6,000 orphaned children, the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, and disaster relief measures following the 2023 monsoon calamity. He accused the previous BJP government of leaving the state with a debt of Rs 75,000 crore and alleged corruption in industrial and land allocations, asserting that the current Congress administration had recovered significant funds, including Rs 350 crore from the Wildflower Hall case and Rs 250 crore from JSW.
Sukhu predicted a stronger mandate for Congress in 2027, projecting a 52-seat win. Congress in-charge for Himachal, Rajni Patil, praised the government’s achievements, particularly its anti-drug efforts and social welfare programs.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri delivered a forceful speech, warning officials against favouring BJP interests and urging strict action where needed. He also criticized delays in central aid for Himachal and lauded the state government’s swift relief measures for disaster-affected families.
HPCC president Vinay Kumar reaffirmed the party’s focus on development and strengthening its base in Mandi, criticizing MP Kangana Ranaut for not visiting affected areas during crises. A coffee-table book documenting three years of development work was released, and gallantry awardees and sportspersons were honoured during the event.
The rally, marked by fiery speeches and political messaging, signals an assertive campaign phase for Congress as it gears up for the 2027 Assembly elections.
