3 arrested as Mohali Police Cracked murder case in 12 Hours

In a swift and decisive operation, Mohali Police solved a murder case within 12 hours, arresting the main accused and subsequently detaining two others involved in the crime reported from Phase 1, Mohali.
Acting under the directions of SSP SAS Nagar Harman Deep Singh Hans and supervised by SP City Mohali Dilpreet Singh, police teams moved quickly after the incident was reported. Addressing the media, DSP City Prithvi Singh Chahal detailed the sequence of events that led to the tragic killing.
According to police, building owner Deepak Khanna had rented his property to Anand Singh, a native of Uttarakhand, who was residing there with his family. Anand’s cousin, Dayal Singh, was also staying with them. Police investigations revealed that Dayal Singh allegedly had a habit of consuming alcohol and frequently quarreled with family members.
On the intervening night of March 1 and 2, 2026, a heated altercation broke out between Dayal Singh and Manish, the son of Anand Singh. Following the dispute, Manish allegedly called his relatives, Deepak Kumar alias Rajan and Kulwant Singh alias Preet, to the spot. During the confrontation, Dayal Singh was allegedly stabbed in the chest, resulting in his death.
An FIR (No. 45 dated March 2, 2026) was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Phase-1, Mohali.
Police teams led by SHO Sukhbir Singh launched an immediate investigation and successfully apprehended the main accused, Deepak Kumar, within 12 hours of the crime on March 2. The remaining two accused were arrested the following day, March 3.
Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to establish all facts related to the case.
The swift arrests highlight the prompt response and coordinated efforts of the Mohali Police in ensuring justice and maintaining law and order in the district.
