Assam : Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Saturday, accusing it of attempting to create panic among Indians during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Speaking at an election rally in poll-bound Assam’s Silchar, PM Modi said his government is taking all measures to minimise the impact of the war on citizens.
Addressing the crowd, he emphasised that the government’s primary objective is to ensure that the people face minimal hardships amid the international crisis. “Our government is making every possible effort to ensure that the citizens of our country face the fewest hardships possible. Our objective is to minimise the impact of this war on the nation’s citizens,” he said.
The Prime Minister criticised the Congress for failing to act responsibly in the national interest. “At this critical juncture, it was expected that the Congress party would fulfil the role of a responsible political entity. However, Congress has once again failed in this vital task,” he added.
PM Modi accused the opposition party of trying to create unrest and fear in the country. “The Congress is making every attempt to create panic within the country, hoping the nation gets entangled in difficulties, so that they can subsequently heap endless abuse upon Modi,” he said.
He further alleged that the Congress has become a puppet for global forces hostile to India’s rapid growth. “The forces across the globe that are unable to digest India’s rapid development, the Congress is increasingly becoming a mere puppet in the hands of these very forces,” PM Modi charged.
The Prime Minister’s remarks came amid heightened concerns over the impact of international tensions on India’s economy and citizens, particularly with energy supplies and essential commodities facing possible disruption. By targeting the Congress, PM Modi sought to project his government as proactive and capable of safeguarding national interests while portraying the opposition as irresponsible during a sensitive time.
The rally in Silchar was part of the Prime Minister’s campaign in Assam ahead of upcoming state elections, where the issue of national security and governance amid international crises is expected to be a key talking point.
