Mohali :
Residents of Raipur Kalan village are reportedly living in extremely poor conditions, with growing anger against GMADA and the MGF Project for alleged neglect of development works.
Former Mohali Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi visited the village and highlighted the lack of basic civic amenities despite being surrounded by developed colonies. He said that although the MGF Project adopted the village in 2006, no significant development work has been carried out in nearly two decades.
Bedi pointed out that the village lacks a proper drainage system, leading to widespread sanitation issues and foul smell. He also said there is no proper outlet for wastewater from the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), resulting in accumulation of dirty water in and around the area.
He added that the absence of a village pond has further worsened the drainage problem. Bedi said he has already raised the matter with GMADA officials in writing and demanded immediate action for a permanent solution.
Warning of possible agitation if the issue is not addressed, he urged authorities and the MGF Project to fulfill their responsibilities toward village development. Local representatives and residents also raised concerns and demanded urgent intervention.
