Kuljit Bedi Raises Road, Drainage Issues with GMADA

Mohali :

Former Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has written to the Chief Administrator of GMADA, urging immediate completion of pending development works in and around Wave Estate, Sectors 99, 100, 101 and nearby areas along Airport Road.
Bedi said that although the main road in the area has been constructed, it has not been fully opened for public traffic, leading to daily traffic congestion and forcing residents to travel through longer alternate routes.
He highlighted that the Storm Water Drainage Line project remains incomplete, causing rainwater from nearby sectors and villages to accumulate on roads and enter residential colonies during the monsoon season, creating serious inconvenience for residents.
He further pointed out that while the bridge near Village Mauli has been opened, the connecting road to PR-7 Road is still incomplete, causing difficulties for commuters.
Bedi stated that GMADA had sold plots in the area years ago and residents have already constructed houses, but the required basic infrastructure is still missing. He alleged that the condition of these government-developed sectors is worse than many private colonies
Demanding urgent action, Bedi urged the Chief Administrator to conduct an on-ground inspection before the monsoon and ensure the storm water drainage project is completed on a war footing. He also demanded that the closed road be opened immediately to provide relief to thousands of residents, students and villagers.
He added that officials should come out of their offices and inspect the ground realities to understand public problems. Otherwise, he warned, residents may be forced to launch protests and take legal action against the authorities.
