Mohali :
Former Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi today accused the Punjab Government of misleading residents in the name of a Civil Hospital, claiming that Mohali has been left without a separate, fully functional government hospital.
Bedi alleged that after the hospital came under the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), patients are no longer receiving the concessional healthcare services that were previously available. He claimed that increased medical charges are forcing many people, particularly those from economically weaker sections, to seek treatment at private hospitals.
He also raised concerns over the newly constructed Mother and Child Care Centre, saying that despite its inauguration, the facility has not been made operational. Bedi demanded that the Punjab Government establish a separate Civil Hospital in Mohali, strengthen the Medical College with adequate infrastructure, and open the Mother and Child Care Centre for public use without further delay.
