In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and preserving the green character of the locality, Municipal Councillor Arvinder Kaur Ward No. 5 conducted a plantation drive across several parks in Phase-2, Mohali.
The initiative focused on planting a variety of shade-giving and environmentally beneficial saplings to strengthen the area’s green cover and improve the quality of public spaces. The drive forms part of ongoing efforts to create a cleaner, healthier and more eco-friendly environment for residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Councillor Arvinder Kaur said that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and that tree plantation is one of the most effective ways to combat pollution and improve urban living. She urged residents to actively participate in caring for the newly planted saplings so they can grow into healthy trees that will benefit future generations.
Residents appreciated the initiative, noting that increased greenery in local parks will enhance the beauty of the neighbourhood while providing cleaner air, natural shade and a better recreational environment for children, senior citizens and morning walkers.
Councillor Arvinder Kaur reaffirmed her commitment to continuing developmental and environmental initiatives throughout Ward No. 5, with a focus on maintaining clean, green and vibrant public spaces for the community.
