An advocacy meeting of Red Ribbon Club nodal officers and members was organised at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, under the directions of the Director, Youth Services, Punjab, and in collaboration with the Punjab State AIDS Control Society. The meeting was held under the guidance of Captain (Retd.) Mantej Singh Cheema, Assistant Director, Youth Services.
Cheema said the meeting aimed to keep youth away from drug abuse, spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote voluntary blood donation and encourage participation in the TB-Mukt Bharat campaign. A calendar of important awareness days, including World AIDS Day, National Youth Day and National TB Day, was also released.
Financial assistance was announced for youth clubs to organise awareness activities, while QR-code-based HIV/AIDS awareness material was distributed to universities.
Awards and appreciation certificates were presented to the best-performing Red Ribbon Clubs. Chandigarh University, Gharuan secured first position, followed by Amity University, CGC Jhanjeri, CGC Landran, Khalsa College Mohali and Government Polytechnic College, Khunni Majra.
