Mohali :
Residents of Balongi today blocked the Balongi-Mohali main road, protesting against the alleged supply of contaminated drinking water and demanding an immediate and regular supply of clean water.
Residents said the problem had persisted for several months, forcing them to use contaminated water and raising concerns over the risk of water-borne diseases.
Locals alleged that although Balongi falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation, its water supply system is still being managed by the panchayat, which they claimed had failed to resolve the issue.
The protest ended after discussions were held between the protesters and the SDM. The Sarpanch also assured residents that the problem would be resolved and that such an issue would not recur.
