Shimla :
The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, organised a programme today to mark Hindi Diwas, highlighting the cultural and national significance of Hindi, its use in official work and its role in knowledge creation.
The programme began with a Saraswati Vandana by Dr Anuradha Raturi, Fellow, followed by the reading of a Hindi Diwas message from Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi. He described Hindi as an important expression of India’s cultural heritage, national identity and democratic values, and stressed the use of simple and effective Hindi in daily work.
The message also highlighted the importance of Hindi and other Indian languages in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047. IIAS is also participating in the Hindi Diwas celebrations and the 6th All India Hindi Conference in Navi Mumbai.
During the programme, scholars and staff shared their views on Hindi’s role in education, research, knowledge and contemporary intellectual discourse. Professor Sanjay Bhatt, in his presidential address, said language should be seen not merely as a means of communication but also as a foundation for knowledge and thought.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Meenu Agrawal and was moderated by Dr Akhilesh Pathak, Secretary, Official Language. Speakers also emphasised the need to promote Hindi through its effective use in official work, research, education and digital technology.
