Voter Count Falls 7.8% After SIR, District Records 7.47 Lakh Voters

Mohali:

The final electoral roll released shows that Mohali district has 7,47,569 voters, a decline of 63,150 compared with the 8,10,719 voters recorded during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the difference does not represent the actual number of deleted voters, as new registrations were also added during the revision.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal released the final list in the presence of Roll Observer Mohammad Tayyib and representatives of political parties. Dera Bassi has the highest number of voters at 2,79,857, followed by Kharar with 2,65,702 and Mohali with 2,02,010.
The draft list published on August 13 had 7,00,719 voters, meaning 46,850 voters were added to the final roll. During the revision, 84,795 voters could not be mapped and 1,09,419 cases showed logical discrepancies. Notices were issued to the concerned voters, allowing them to submit documents and objections.
The SIR exercise began on June 25, with 838 Booth Level Officers conducting door-to-door verification. Eligible residents whose names are missing from the final list can apply for registration through Form 6 online or at the concerned election office.
