Chandigarh :
The Municipal Corporation will undertake repair and painting work across parks, green belts and walking tracks in Sector 42 to improve public facilities for residents.
As part of the initiative, work on the repair of the existing walking track, toe wall, painting and grills near House No. 1086 in Sector 42-B was inaugurated today in the presence of former Senior Deputy Mayor and Ward Councillor Jasbir Singh Bunty. Pawan Singla formally initiated the development work by breaking a coconut.
Jasbir Singh Bunty informed that, along with the walking track in Sector 42-B, repair and painting of toe walls in Green Belts A and B, Sector 42, as well as parks in Sector 42-C and D, would also be undertaken. Walking tracks in other parks that have deteriorated will also be repaired and restored.
He said continuous efforts are being made through the Municipal Corporation to improve parks and green belts in the ward so that residents, particularly senior citizens, can enjoy better facilities for morning and evening walks.
On the occasion, Sector 42-B President Raj Kumar Sharma thanked Jasbir Singh Bunty and the Municipal Corporation. He explained that residents of Attawa village and Sector 42 regularly visit the park for evening walks. However, after the installation of the stormwater pipeline, the walking track was severely damaged, causing considerable inconvenience, particularly to elderly residents. He said the track had been in need of repair for a long time and expressed satisfaction that the work had finally commenced.
Raj Kumar Sharma and other residents also appreciated Jasbir Singh Bunty for his continued support in addressing local issues and carrying out development works in the ward.
Municipal Corporation Junior Engineer Divyadeep informed that the walking track repair work is expected to be completed within approximately one month. The repair of the toe walls is also targeted for completion during the current month.
Manohar Singh, Kikkar Singh, Gurdial Singh, R.S. Chaudhary and several other prominent residents and locals were present on the occasion.
