Awareness Campaign on Census 2027 Held at Shaheed Balbir Singh Hockey Stadium in Mohali

Mohali :

To create awareness about Census 2027, the Census Department Punjab, in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, SAS Nagar, organised a two-day awareness campaign on November 4 and 5 at Shaheed Balbir Singh Hockey Stadium, Mohali.

The awareness stall was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer Komal Mittal, IAS. Additional Deputy Commissioner Geetika Singh, PCS, also attended the inauguration along with members of the census team.

The campaign was organised alongside the Asian Champions Trophy 2026 hockey matches being held at the stadium under the Punjab Government’s ‘India Ka Game’ initiative. The event provided an opportunity to reach a large number of spectators, particularly young students, and spread awareness about the upcoming Census 2027.

As part of the campaign, attractive display stands based on the Census 2027 theme and specially designed selfie points were installed at the stadium. These interactive arrangements encouraged visitors, especially young people and school students, to participate in the awareness drive and share their involvement through photographs.

During the campaign, officials from the Census Department provided information about the different stages of Census 2027 and appealed to citizens to actively participate in this important national exercise.

As per the announced schedule, the Self-Enumeration process in Punjab will be conducted from November 16 to November 30, 2026. This will be followed by the house-to-house population enumeration from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The revision process will take place from January 5 to January 9, 2027.

Visitors were also informed that through the Self-Enumeration facility, families can submit their household information online through the government’s official portal before the commencement of the door-to-door census process.

During the awareness drive, the Census Department distributed caps bearing the Census 2027 logo, informative pamphlets and notepads among visitors. The specially designed caps attracted considerable attention from school students, who received them enthusiastically. The caps also proved useful for students watching the hockey matches in sunny weather.

Through interactive selfie points, attractive display stands and promotional material, the Census Department aimed to establish direct engagement with citizens, particularly the younger generation, and encourage maximum public participation in Census 2027.
