Local body polls: 134 nominations filed on Day 3

The nomination process for the upcoming local bodies elections entered its third day, witnessing steady participation across urban civic bodies in Mohali district. A total of 134 nomination papers were filed in various municipal bodies by the end of the day.
The highest number of nominations came from the Municipal Council Zirakpur with 53 candidates, followed by the Municipal Corporation Mohali with 40 nominations. Other bodies reported filings as Municipal Council Kurali (19), Banur (13), Dera Bassi (4), Lalru (4), and Nagar Council Nayagaon (1).
The election schedule continues to move forward, with May 16 set as the final date for filing nominations. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on May 18, while candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until May 19.
Meanwhile, in Fatehgarh Sahib district, a total of 95 nomination papers were submitted across four urban local bodies on the same day. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dr. Sona Thind informed that 27 nominations were filed in Bassi Pathana, 28 in Mandi Gobindgarh, 23 in Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib, and 17 in Khamano Nagar Panchayat.
Officials stated that the nomination process is proceeding smoothly across all constituencies as preparations continue for the upcoming polls.
