Protest Seeks Protection for Community Dogs

Chandigarh :

Animal welfare activists and concerned citizens held a large peaceful protest outside the Health Department in Chandigarh, calling for the protection of community dogs and raising concerns over alleged legal irregularities affecting them. Participants dressed in black as a mark of protest against the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and administration.
Protesters carried placards highlighting violations of Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, alleged disregard of Supreme Court and Animal Welfare Board of India directives, and injustice towards voiceless community animals.
Led by Harsh, Upasana, Ramanpreet, and Deeksha, the demonstrators demanded an immediate halt to cruelty, illegal dog lifting, and urged adoption of humane, lawful solutions in line with existing regulations. The protest was entirely peaceful, aiming to promote compassion, uphold constitutional values, and ensure strict compliance with the law.
